Dragon Day 25 June 2022

Happy Gaffey Grabs Prizes

Mark Gaffey was the star of the June Dragon Day. His 41 individual stableford points was easily the best score. Mark also teamed up with Swampy Sands to swamp the opposition in the 4BBB with a neat 4 dozen points. Low marker Stewart Murphy and Club Captain Ian Miller were brilliant at times but without much handicap you pay for the odd error or bad luck and each were left stranded on 36 points.
The Hallidays Point Tavern hole-in-one hole was this time the very shaded 14th hole. Stew the Smurf hit off first and his NTP held up all day. The mercurial octogenarian Billy Brookes, looking resplendent in red, hit a great tee shot but was unfortunately a fraction further away than the Smurf.
Fiona Lane shot the best individual score for ladies and Jenny (JLo) Lowe was the only player to finish on the 14th green in sunshine, but unfortunately missed her 35 metre putt. Michele Miller arrived late in the day to snatch the ladies NTP prize.
A field of 59 played including a group of visitors from Gunnedah.

P.S. That’s enough “Are you going to decorate your cart for Ash Wednesday?”, “fire bug”, “cutlass cartless” heart less jokes now. And I have concluded that it must have been a fire breathing water dragon that started the Jurassic Park fire on Tuesday.
